Like any career worth having, selling is hard work and it takes skill.
But there's a wave of sentiment in the sales community that one shouldn't act too much like a salesperson or they'll be "found out" by their prospects. I say let our prospects know, without any uncertainty, that we are selling to them. We have nothing to apologize for.
Selling is a wonderful profession. We can make a good (or great) living, develop solid relationships with our customers, and go to sleep at night knowing that we've helped others as well as our selves. We should not feel like we have to apologize for being a salesperson or for working our tails off trying to get more and more customers to buy from us.
I want my prospects to know that I'm a hard working, hard selling salesperson! I'm a tireless advocate for my prospects and their needs. I am committed to bringing value to them, and I'm never going to apologize for selling them hard. I'm proud of what I do, and I'm proud of the expertise that I bring to my prospects.
I unapologetically say, "I'm a salesperson, and I want you to buy from me!" No apologies!
