I sent out a press release to six media organizations. For five of those organizations, I went online and filled out an online form to submit my press release or sent emails to the designated email address. It was extraordinarily easy. But one of those media organizations, a newspaper, required that all press releases be submitted via snail mail.
Newspapers are shrinking all across America. Newsroom staffs, photographers, and other employees are shrinking because of shrinking revenue for newspapers. More and more people are seeking their news online, and newspaper readership continues to decline.
Wouldn't you think that a large newspaper would make it easy for people to submit press releases to increase the speed of flow of information so they can better compete with online news resources? I predict newspapers will continue to lose ground in their battle to retain readership.
I encourage you to be in a constant state of evaluation of your sales practices and business practices. What modernization needs to occur? What can/should you do differently to get a different result? Who can you reach out to to develop partnerships with to maximize your sales?
Being static is the enemy of business growth.
